Casey James at Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville, TN

Casey James took the stage tonight at Cotton Eyed Joe, the self-described #1 nightclub in Knoxville and East Tennessee. Casey was the headliner in this benefit concert sponsored by radio station 107.7 WIVK in Knoxville.

Before introducing Casey, the announcer gave a shout out to The Casey James Blog for broadcasting the show live to Casey’s fans and Casey also thanked everyone for listening! Casey opened with the upbeat “The Good Life,” then segued into the fun “She’s Money.” Then Casey said he was feeling a little lonely on stage all by himself, and then did a little bit of that old Eric Carmen weeper of the same name. You have to listen to the recording just for that! Then Casey played a song that will always have a special place in his heart, his first single “Let’s Don’t Call it a Night.”

His heart, he said, was about to explode seeing people sing along, knowing the words. Casey talked about doing covers, since that was what he did most of the eleven plus years he was a working musician, and then launched into TCJB’s favorite cover, Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie.” He said as of today he’s now 100% completely finished with the album, after having tweaked a few things in the mix.

The next song was “Love the Way You Miss Me” which Casey said would be on the record. Casey continued with a song he says he normally plays on the electric guitar, Tab Benoit’s “So High.” He followed that up with the Hal Ketchum song “Small Town Saturday Night” and invited the crowd to sing along.

Casey took a moment to thank the crowd for their donations and introduced his next song, Matt Powell’s “Everybody Thinks You’re Still Mine.” Next up was “Please Come Home for Christmas.” An audience member joined Casey up on stage for the next song, Doyle Bramhall II’s “He Stole Our Love Away.” After he playfully sent the girl back to her seat, Casey continued with “Crazy Tonight.” Casey concluded this fun set with “Drive.”
