Casey James’ Milestones

The collective eyes of Casey James’ fans are focused on March 2012, the approximate date for the first release of Casey’s debut CD. But as we wait for that day to arrive, we can look back at the milestones that we’ve already enjoyed with Casey as he went from undiscovered journeyman musician to someone with his first major label release.

On August 17, 2010, Sony Music Nashville issued a press release announcing the signing of Casey James to their BNA Records label.




March 3, 2011, was the first performance of Drive at the invite-only Country Radio Seminar Boat Party.




On March 4, 2011, Casey opened for Sugarland in North Little Rock and played in public for the first time, “Bulletproof,” “Let’s Don’t Call it a Night,” “‘Til My Guitar,” “Drive,” and “Done Made Up My Mind.” Watch set here.


Also on March 4, 2011, Casey James’ official website,, was launched and introduced by a video message from Casey.




March 19, 2011, in Sioux City, Iowa, was the first time Casey played Hold On, the song he co-wrote with Kristian Bush, publicly.



On March 22, 2011, Casey James’ official YouTube channel posted a teaser video of Casey and his touring band playing the opening riff of Drive.




On April 1, 2011, Casey played at the Academy of Country Music post awards-show Fan Jam with Kristian Bush.




On April 30, 2011, Casey debuted two new songs – I Lied and Show Me a Bridge – at the Indiana Fairground Country Music Expo. This was also the first live performance of an acoustic version of Drive.



On June 4, 2011, Casey debuted two new songs – So Sweet and You Need Some Texas – in Camden, NJ.




On June 9, 2011, Casey played at his first CMA Fest in Nashville. He played two different events, including a two-song set on the LP Field Stage.




On July 1, 2011, Casey came home to Ft. Worth to play at Billy Bob’s Texas. There, he played three new songs which he saved for this special show: She’s Money, Undone, and Why I’m Feeling Blue.


On July 27, 2011, 92.5 WXTU’s Razz on the Radio was the first to play “Let’s Don’t Call it a Night” on the radio. The song was first introduced as a “Razz Recommends.”


On August 15, 2011, LDCIAN was released to radio, also known as “going for adds.”  The song’s first add was actually by Z104 KSOP  on 8/1/11.




On August 16, 2011, LDCIAN was available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon. Casey’s fans were thrilled to finally be able to purchase some of Casey’s music and the song did amazing its first day, hitting #36 on Amazon’s Country Bestsellers, #3 (Overall) Movers & Shakers, #1 Top Rated in Country, and #52 Top Country Songs on iTunes.



On August 20, 2011, Casey introduced fans to three new songs, Crazy Tonight, Never Walk Away, and The Good Life during a concert in North Canton, Ohio.



August 23, 2011, LDCIAN debuts in the Billboard Top 60.


September 13, 2011, LDCIAN debuts on Mediabase, coming in at #49.





September 19, 2011, LDCIAN hits Top 50 on Billboard’s Activator Chart.





On September 28, 2011, Casey played for the first time a song that had no title at the time and that he is now calling Love the Way You Miss Me at a radio station event for 102.5 The Bull Birmingham.




October 14, 2011, the music video for LDCIAN is released. CMT premieres the video during its Big New Music Weekend and labels Casey James their “Next Big Thing.”




October 14, 2011, the music video of LDCIAN enters the CMT Pure 12-Pack Countdown in its first day of airing. October 21, 2011, the video hits #1.



On October 23, 2011, LDCIAN cracked the Top 40 on the Mediabase and Billboard charts, hitting #40 and #38 respectively.




November 15, 2011, LDCIAN airs for the first time on GAC-TV. December 2, 2011, LDCIAN enters the GAC Top 20 Countdown at #11.



On December 4, 2011, LDCIAN keeps up its momentum, moving into the Top 35 on Billboard and a new high on Mediabase.

    WOW! what an awesome milestone Casey James has had since days of Idol & His loyal, respectful & supporting Fans has hung in there along with Casey for this amazing milestone of the journey! I’m so proud to be one of Casey’s fans & so happy to see he & his music has came so far as 2011 ends & 2012 on it’s way in with shortly his first CD being able to be purchased by his fans. from the beginning of this milestone & for years to come it all have been done with respect, loyalty and mostly love of Casey & also by each fan to each other! 🙂 Love Ya Casey & Casey James fans (((HUGS)))

    Have watched and listened to Casey from day one. I am no youngster, but his personality, honesty,
    contagious laugh, just impressed me so. His music and guitar playing has been outstanding!!!!!
    Can’t wait for his CD in March!!! We all need to support his music and vote whenever we can
    wherever we can. I believe once a Casey fan you will always be always a Casey fan. He is
    a hard worker, and a talented artist, he deserves all recognition!!!! My best To Casey in 2012.

    I have never followed an artist like this before, but once I heard Casey on AI I was hooked !!! There was just that something special about him,along with his beautiful voice and amazing guitar skills !! There also was that gorgeous smile of his that just seemed to say …”I love what I am doing..just playing my music !!” I know that CD is going to be soooo worth the wait !!! Best of luck to Casey in his career which, I am sure is going to be long and prosperous !!! So proud to be his fan, along with all the wonderful people here and at the Casey E. James Fan Club !!!! Keep the music comin’ Casey cause I’m a fan for life !!!!!! Chris B.

      Ditto. I’ve never followed an artist like this before though I’ve sung, played, listened and bought music all my life. It honestly surprises me that I’m still avidly interested in Casey and his music. But here I am, two years out, still following, voting, watching, listening.

      There is definitely something special about Casey James.

    I have no one day without Casey’s music … since I saw him for the first time in Ireland on TV at American Idol…THANK GOD!!! I can’t stop watching and listening and smiling…..     As with several above, I’ve never followered an artist like this. From the first time I saw Simon vote “no”, I knew he was wrong. Just wish we could get him to Michigan soon. I saw the Idol tour in Phoenix when he announced his record contract. The crowd went crazy. It’s been a long wait and I too have my name on the Amazon notication list for his first album. Everyone keep voting. It was great to see him at # 20 on GAC this weekend. Casey, I see you are in Detroit in January.
    Please hook up with 98.5 in Kalamazoo ( PJ Lacey ) and give us “non highschoolers” a chance to see you. Diana
