Hazel Smith, the country music journalist and delightful host of CMT’s Southern Fried Flicks, has a piece in this week’s Country Weekly Magazine about her visit with Casey James. Casey was a guest on last week’s episode of “Southern Fried Flicks” and the two ate and talked and ate some more between scenes of the movie “Sweet Home Alabama.”
Hazel, who apparently shares her birthday with the Cool, Texas, native, wrote a brief bio of Casey, then discussed his appearance on her show. She relayed how Casey told her that he has recorded 14 songs for the album, all but two of which he wrote himself. He also mentioned that he was expecting his mom, Debra “Bybee” James, later that day and was planning on picking her up in a limo.
Hazel and CMT’s “Next Big Thing” enjoyed some down home cooking and she shared her recipe for dessert in the article.
