Casey sends out a Happy Thanksgiving greeting: As Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. approaches, it’s traditional to reflect on what it is that you are thankful for. Maybe not as traditional as watching football and eating turkey, but important nonetheless. So we at The Casey James Blog want to do that. To tell the people who we appreciate just how thankful we are.
First, to Casey James. Thanks for bringing all these wonderful people together. Your music, your integrity, your devotion and your passion has resonated with people from every walk of life and from every spot on the globe. You have touched a nerve that has caused people to feel compelled to join together to help you realize your dream. And in that process, you have inadvertently forged many new friendships and revitalized and reenergized many people to pursue their own passions. Much of this you already know from the Inspiration book that was put together and shared with you in Nashville at the Hard Rock Cafe and from the many gifts, notes, tweets and other outpouring of love from your many fans. But as you know, you can never say thank you too much.
Next, to the Casey James fans. Whenever the clarion call goes out to help Casey, there is an immediate and overwhelming response. Whether voting, filling out surveys, requesting his song, tweeting, posting, calling in to share the live concert experience with fans who can’t be there, or otherwise “spreading the word” no other group has worked so long, so diligently, so intently to help support an artist. There are some who go above and beyond, spending each and every day wondering what they can do to help Casey and finding dozens of ways to do just that. Casey truly has the most devoted fans in all of music.
We can’t forget Mama James, without whom none of this would be possible. From nurturing his musical interest (and giving him that awesome guitar when he was 16), to encouraging his passion, to kicking his butt to go try out for that TV show, Debra “Bybee” James showed that love and support is more important than money. She gave Casey the gift of music, exposing Casey to artists ranging from tenor Luciano Pavarotti to banjo player Béla Fleck, and the belief in his talent to keep going despite the lack of material success. She also taught him about sharing his gift with others and the importance of giving back.
Finally, to the fans who help preserve the record of Casey’s concerts. Those who take videos of Casey’s performances, you probably have no idea just how important a contribution you have made to Casey’s success. It’s one thing to write about someone’s concert, it’s another thing to be able to show it. Thousands of people who haven’t been able to see Casey live have discovered his talent through the videos you have taken and shared. This goes all the way back to those of you who taped during Homecoming week on American Idol where, without you, the general public would have had no idea that what they knew about Casey James was just a fraction of what he had to offer.
To all of Casey’s fans, we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving (also known as “Thursday” to those of you outside the U.S. ;)). May you spend it with the people you love and have some time to reflect on your blessings. We hope you’re all living “The Good Life.”
