Casey James’ Weekly Recap — 9/2

Another busy week for Casey James, another list of announcements, another group of happy fans from Jacksonville to the Twin Cities.  So let’s see what happened this week.

On Monday, AOL’s country music website The Boot published this article about Casey, incorporating his previous interview with Country Music is Love about his life-changing motorcycle accident and his work putting together songs for his first album.  Radio station 99.5 WKDQ had Casey’s new single as their New Music Monday song and received many positive comments form listeners. Then that evening, Casey played a nine-song set with his full touring band at the Alexandria Fairgrounds in Kentucky.

On Tuesday, Casey played a 13-song acoustic set at The Tin Roof in Lexington, Kentucky.  Earlier in the day, Blair Gardner of After Midnite released the audio of his interview with Casey backstage during Casey’s concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.   A new concert was added for Casey on 10/22 in Lakeside, CA.

On Wednesday, Country Music is Love published a follow up to their interview with Casey. Three new concerts were announced: 9/14 in Portland, OR, 9/16 in Bakersfield, CA and 10/1 in Jacksonville, FL.  In his, Nashville IQ article for All Access, Neil Haislop called Let’s Don’t Call it a Night “a bluesy, feelgood anthem to a great evening.”

On Thursday, another new concert date was announced.  Casey will be playing at Toby Keith’s ‘I Love This Bar’ in St. Louis Park, Minnesota on September 22, at 9:30 PM.

On Friday, Eric Cornish, the drive time DJ at WKDQ, 99.5 FM, wrote a very nice article about Casey James and the buzz surrounding him and his new single.

Casey’s single is getting more airplay.  For where to request the song, click here.  The current Mediabase list of stations that have added Let’s Don’t Call it a Night now looks like this:

  2. Lulu Dee says:

Great job with these weekly recaps. Thanks so much.

  3. Blueslane uk says:

Yes I needed to catch up on articals I missed. Thanks for the weekly recap.
And I have finally downloaded Caseys single, ( nearly three weeks later than everyone else!) I tried on the release date, but my computer would not let me download the single from the sites you mentioned, as I lived outside the US, and didn’t even have it.But earlier this week I looked again on uk and there it was! YES! All I have to do now is wait patiently for the release of Caseys album, which I think he said would be sometime in January.

  4. Cynthia says:

Casey is travelling all over the U.S. and showing the country music world that he fits as a great entertainer.

  5. Aunt Sherry says:

All those stations with less than 10 spins a week need to get with the program!!! I have called “The Bull” 94.9 in Atlanta more times than I remember. It’s hard to get someone to answer and then it’s always the same “we’ll try to work it in” and don’t. Frustrating! Called another station and dj said they don’t get many requests for it; I told him if they would play it so people could hear it that THEY WOULD. But I will keep trying.

    • Give it to ’em Sherry!! Don’t give up (like you’d give up on your nephew, duh!). Just so you know, @rockendog calls her station all the time & always gets some excuse…last night a tweet came out from one of the DJ’s at that station asking for requests, she sent a tweet back requesting Casey’s single (so did I!) and they FINALLY PLAYED IT!! Don’t give up people!!!

    • MNCyn says:

The music director is the one we need to talk to at radio stations. Talking to DJ’s is ok, but according to Amy James at K102 in Minneapolis, it’s the music director who has the power to make it happen. Just an fyi.

  6. Renee says:

I’ve never followed an artist at the very beginning of their career before. I don’t understand all the details of the radio info. Can someone with some understanding of this give me an idea of how Casey is doing…average…above average…?

  7. lisa says:

I agree with Renee how is Casey doing as far as sales as far as radio plays, anything?

  8. pamrichva says:

Don’t forget my show in Chesapeake on 9/30! It’s still on their website…hope you don’t have any inside info on a cancellation.
