Casey James Lyrics Guessing Game, Part 3

Last weekend, during his epic show at Billy Bob’s in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, Casey James debuted three new songs*,  “She’s Money,” “Why I’m Feeling Blue” and “Undone.”  He also sang an original song*, “Shine Your Shoes,” that he had written and performed before being on American Idol, and introduced to his new fans at a couple of public gigs in 2010, but had not yet played this year.  Below, I’ve written up my best guess at the lyrics for the three brand new compositions.  HPsquares has put down the words to “Shine Your Shoes”.  If you’re hearing something different, feel free to let us know in the comments section.

She’s Money

You can take everything that I own
You can take everything that I’ve ever known
You can clean out the bank
Burn it all up in flames
Take it all and run, I’ll be okay
‘Cause I don’t need a thing

‘Cause she’s money
Well she’s silver and gold
Pure honey
So good for my soul
Whether rain or sunny
She’s money
She’s money baby

All the green that I need in her emerald eyes
I got empty pockets babe, but I still get by
My ride ain’t fancy but she don’t care
That don’t matter, long as it’ll get us there
And that’s why

She’s money
Yeah, she’s silver and gold
Pure honey
Well, so good for my soul
Our love is free
She’s all that I need
Whether rain or sunny
She’s money

She’s money
Well, she’s silver and gold
Pure honey
Well, so good for my soul

She’s money
Well, she’s silver and gold
Pure honey
Well, so good for my soul
Our love is free
She’s all that I need
Whether rain or sunny
She’s money

Why I’m Feeling Blue

Yellow sun beatin’ down on me
Yellow flower on the city streets
Yellow cab could bring me back to you
So tell me why am I feeling blue

Red lipstick on a coffee cup
Red light stops the traffic long enough
For me to see a girl in red that looks like you
So tell me why am I feeling blue

‘Cause this is where we were the night
You looked at me and said goodbye
And nothing hurts like the truth
I guess that’s why I’m feeling blue

Maybe I just need to close my eyes
So I can get you off my mind
‘Cause every color I see makes me think of you
And that’s why I’m feeling blue

‘Cause this is where we were the night
You looked at me and said goodbye
And nothing hurts like the truth
I guess that’s why I’m feeling blue

Undone

Peace of mind sometimes depends
On the path your heart’s been travelin’
Mine’s been broken, mine’s been bruised
Fallen hard a time or two
And up ’til now I didn’t know who’d save me

I’ve searched around enough to know
About holding on and letting go
And finally I’ve found the one
That makes me come undone

Now the bad bad news don’t sound so hard
Long lonely miles don’t stretch so far
Ain’t up all night praying for sleep
My empty pockets don’t feel so deep
Whatever you’re doing, girl, just keep it coming

I’ve searched around enough to know
About holding on and letting go
Finally I’ve found the one
That makes me come undone

Undone, like the clouds pouring out a perfect rain
Undone, like the grace of heaven healing my pain
You lying in my arms, me whispering your name
Won’t ever be the same
It won’t be the same

I’ve searched around enough to know
About holding on and letting go
Finally I’ve found the one
That makes me come undone

Oh you make me come undone
Come undone

 Shine Your Shoes

I woke up early this morning
Somebody was tappin on me
He said, “Man, ya best get movin.”
Ya just can’t sleep out on the street

So you see me on the corner
Same old boots down on my feet
And I know that I ain’t picture perfect, baby
But I sure could use some food to eat

Yeah, and I’ll, I’ll wash your windows, shine your shoes
Ya give me something I can do
Well I’m just tryin to make my way
Spendin my time here on earth
Lookin for things that have more worth
Than all this stuff you think you need

Now you see me at that stop light
And you quickly turn and look away
And I don’t think that it’s mighty strange, baby
How fast you want that light to change

But you might say that I’m just lazy
And I won’t tell you that it ain’t true, babe
But while you sit there in that office, girl
Yeah, gonna have a better day than you

Yes, it’s true and I’ll, I’ll wash your windows, shine your shoes
Give me something I can do
Well I’m just tryin to make my way
No, no, na no, Spendin my time here on earth
Lookin for things that have more worth
Than all this stuff you think you need, yeah

Well I’ll, I’ll wash your windows, shine your shoes
Give me something I can do
Well I’m just tryin to make my way
No, no, spendin my time here on earth
Lookin for things that have more worth
Than all this stuff you think you need

No, no, no, na, no, no
Do, do, do , do, do, do, do, do, do
No, no, no, na, na
Do, do, do, do, do, do, doot, do, do
No, no, na, na, na, na
Do, do, do, do, doot, do, do, do, do
No, no, na, na, no

Those songs are so Casey! she’s money sounds just like he would want it! I hope he finds the love he writes about! What a sweet amazing soul!

  2. Bybee D James says:

Good grief! The lyrics/music to Why I’m Feeling Blue are absolutely tragic. They really put you in the world of the writer. You find yourself feeling his pain instead of just listening about it.

    • MarieLeathem1 says:

Oh Debra, I completely agree. Lyrics, music, his tone…everything comes together on this song and makes me ache. Makes my heart hurt. It’s a sad, meloncholy, gorgeous song. Love it.

    • MNCyn says:

I listened to it the other day and thought the exact same thing. In fact I commented to someone on it. Heartfelt words …. and a song that always gets my vote. Very powerful.

  3. Neet says:

So true – the lyrics are so down to earth and real that you can actually feel the pain. . . the melody so achingly beautiful that I find myself holding back tears every time I listen to it. I hope Casey sings it again – so far only at Billy Bob’s, not at Fiesta Park or Salt River Fields. I think it has the potential of being a hit.
