Seriously? A cover song? I wonder who’s idea this is?? The songs he wrote and played on tour with Sugarland are amazing. His short time in the sporlight is wasted on a cover song!

Cover or not this is great news. The fact that SL will is kinda endorsing him will make industry folk take him seriously. Not that they shouldn’t, but just a fact of the Idol stigma. That James kid is the real deal! I’m glad to see they are taking time for the record unlike others in the past. Timing is a big factor in deciding the best time to release it.
Shari you are awesome for continuing this blog. You are the go to for what’s next. Hopefully Casey realizes what you do…

I didn’t mean for that to sound so negative. I was just saying it’s awesome how so many big names have realized Casey is a real musician & want to invest their time in writing with & promoting his debut record. Ready for the music!

  2. It’s one original and one cover, so that’s pretty good. Two songs, one of them a new one, for the audience. Originals are often off-putting to new fans, since they want to hear something they’re familiar with from an unknown (to them) artist. So, don’t worry! This is terrific news!!!

  3. Alexis Dunn says:

Great news and I agree for a new artist a cover song is the norm with one of his own.

  4. Meme4CJ says:

The great news! is that the original song is his debut single 😀
I FLOVED all his “cover” songs so far , Casey really chooses great songs 😀

    Thank you for posting….
Always love to see Casey getting great press and performance opportunities.

  6. Karen says:

This is really great for Casey! 🙂 I love his original songs too, but it seems when a crowd is familiar with a song, it can really get them going! Even bands that are very well known seem to be adding covers to their set of originals.

Thanks for keeping us posted on all things “Casey”. I think this is a fantastic opportunity. Sugarland must think highly of Casey – they’ve been pretty good to him. Hope the cover is . . .hmmm. . .just realized I like Long Tall Texan, Liza Jane, and I Need Your Love so Bad equally, so can’t pick one. I know I’ll enjoy anything he chooses. He never disappoints.

Can you imagine being from the midwest (I am) and in Las Vegas (I am) and trying to keep track of times attached to theses events? I keep shaking my head hoping things will shake into place. Sooo … I have to be at the Fan Jam event early afternoon to be in my seat by 4:30 Vegas time – which is 6:30 Minnesota time but the event is not aired live until 8 pm Eastern time which is 5 pm Las Vegas time? So …. I know Fan Jam is going on at the same time as the Music Awards at MGM – but Casey is singing at Mandalay Bay after they’re over? Which is what time? And we’re planning a call in … which is fine (hopefully the sound will work) … but I sure hope she can keep track of times because I’m not so sure I can!
