The Mineral Wells Index had an article today about area-native Shane McAnally, now a successful Nashville-based songwriter. McAnally has written for LeAnn Rimes, Lee Ann Womack and even for people not named Lee Ann, penning Kenny Chesney’s number one hit, Somewhere With You.
Near the end of the article, McAnally talked about having run into fellow North Texan, Casey James, while in Nashville.
“I have and we’ve written together,” McAnally said of the singer from Cool. “We wrote a song together and had a great time … and I look forward to doing a lot more. I’m excited about his career.”
“Honestly, us meeting and working together didn’t have anything to do with our hometown connection,” he added. “He didn’t even know that” before they met.
If the name Shane McAnally is familiar to Casey’s fans, it is becuase he had tweeted last November:
Tomorrow night is Casey James, Josh Osborne, and Me….7:30 @ James Gang Company….Hope to see you there!
As you may recall, the appearance was later canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
I can only imagine that Casey must be in musician’s heaven in Nashville, meeting and working with so many other talented artists. Yes, I’m sure it is a lot of work and probably pretty stressful with all that is potentially riding on the next few months. Still, being able to write and play music every day is all that Casey ever really wanted. And that’s already happened for him.
