Casey James News — 11/20, Casey Yellow Note

Saturday night Casey posted an update on his Twitter account, by way of the yellow note.  His twitter followers were excited for the update and for the promise that they would be coming more often in the future.

The big scoop was confirmation that superstar brother and bassist Billy Cole James would be heading off to Nashville to join his bandmate Casey in the very near future.  In addition, Casey did leave one tantalizing clue about his collaborations when he said that he’s had the opportunity “to write with some of my heroes.”

It’s terrific to hear that Casey is busy writing and working on picking songs for the album and that The Casey James Band is starting to come together.

The day will come when your work is ready to listen to. Until then, I’ll be checking in on any news about you. All the best to you and your band.

Doyle Bramhall II would seem the most likely of the working musicians and songwriters, who might possibly be available to collaborate, whom Casey has consistently identified as a major influence on him and his music. Except that DBII’s genre is Blues & Rock, not Country. Though I could still see a collaboration where Casey could bring his version of country to a songwriting collaboration with Doyle. I would think that if the label bought into them writing together that we may see an interesting shift by Sony/BMG towards Country Blues. Could be very interesting.
